Carnation Company was founded by grocer E.A. Stuart in Kent, Washington in 1899. CARNATION® INSTANT BREAKFAST ESSENTIALS™ has its roots in the 1960s, when lifestyles were becoming increasingly hectic. Though studies showed that breakfast was the most important meal of the day, people had little time to indulge in a traditional meal. When CARNATION® INSTANT BREAKFAST ESSENTIALS™ went into national distribution in the spring of 1965, it was an overnight sensation. Now, its popularity continues to grow, and our dedication to fulfilling the needs of this decade's especially demanding lifestyles is more focused than ever.
